2023 Volleyball Schedule Announced

PITTSBURGH – A quartet of non-conference Invitational events followed by 18 Atlantic 10 Conference games comprise the 2023 Duquesne volleyball schedule released today.

The Dukes, in their 26th season under head coach Steve Opperman, the winningest coach in program history, will open the 2023 campaign at the Binghamton Invitational on August 25-26 in Binghamton, N.Y.

DU will face Saint Peter's on Friday August 25th, and will also take on host Binghamton and Merrimack in the four-team event.

The Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational, which also includes Robert Morris and Canisius, will follow on Sept. 1-2 at both DU's UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse and RMU's UMPC Events Center. Duquesne's first - and only - home matches prior to Oct. 3 will be vs. Canisius on Sept. 1 (11:00 am and 6:00 pm).

DU will travel to the other side of the state for the Penn Invitational (Sept. 8-9) where it will face Penn, Coppin State and Lafayette.

A trip to Blacksburg, Va. for the Virginia Tech Invitational (Sept. 15-16), with a field that includes Virginia Tech, East Carolina and Queens, completes the non-conference portion of the schedule.

The Atlantic 10 will once again use a scheduling format that will see the Dukes will play consecutive games against an opponent over one weekend without any return matches. The lone exception are matches versus Dayton, that will see the Dukes host the Flyers on Oct. 3 and play at UD on Oct. 24.

Conference play begins on Sept. 22-23 when the Dukes travel to Fordham to take on the Rams. DU will follow that with a trip to Richmond, Va. to face VCU on Sept. 29-30.

DU's first home conference match will be the Oct. 3 game vs. Dayton.

Duquesne will host Saint Louis on Oct. 6-7, before heading to Washington, D.C. to face GW on Oct. 13-14.

The Dukes will complete the month of October with matches at home vs. Rhode Island (Oct. 20-21), followed by the return match at Dayton (Oct. 24) and a trip to Chicago to face Loyola on Oct. 27-28.

DU closes out the regular season with November home matches versus George Mason (Nov. 3-4) and Davidson (Nov. 10-11).

The Atlantic 10 Championship, which will feature the conference's top six regular season finishers, will be held at Davidson's John M. Belk Arena on Nov. 17-19.
