Read Represents Dukes at NCAA Championships

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Amy Read represented the Duquesne swimming and diving team at the NCAA National Championships the past two days, competing in the three-meter dive on Friday and platform dive on Saturday.
 
Read bowed out after the preliminary round in both events with a 36th place finish scoring a 255.05 over six trips to the board in the three-meter, then a 44th place finish in the platform dive totaling a 198.75 score over five dives.
 
Friday's three-meter repertoire had a 16.00 degree of difficulty and featured a forward 2 1/2 somersault pike, forward 2 ½ somersault 1 twist pike, back 2 ½ somersault tuck, reverse 1 ½ somersault pike, reverse 2 ½ somersault tuck, and an inward 2 ½ somersault tuck to finish off the meet. Read had her best score on the penultimate dive with a 51.80 on the reverse 2 ½ somersault tuck and posted above a 40 in four of her six attempts.
 
On Saturday, Read went off the 10m platform four times and finished with a forward 2 ½ somersault pike from 7.5m totaling a 13.8 degree of difficulty. She completed a reverse 2 ½ somersault tuck, back 2 ½ somersault pike, forward 2 ½ somersault 1 twist pike, and inward 2 ½ somersault pike in the five outings off 10m. Read scored above a 40 in three of her five attempts with a high score of 49.30 on the back 2 ½ somersault pike.
 
This was the fifth-straight season Read qualified for the NCAA Championships, first as a Duke after transferring from Pitt.
