WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Duquesne freshman setter
Chloe Wilmot has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the third consecutive week and sixth time this season, setting a new program record.
Wilmot recorded 85 assists, the second most in the A-10 for the week, and averaged 9.44 assists with 2.11 digs per set in a two-game series against Davidson over the weekend to close out the regular season. The Alexandria, Va. product tallied her 13th double-double of the season Friday night with a match-high 47 assists and 12 digs.
The six Rookie of the Week awards breaks Mary Henry's Duquesne record of five set in 2005, while tying Wilmot for second-most in a season in A-10 history behind Aubree Smith (Xavier) - who had seven in 2011.
Wilmot finished her freshman campaign with 1025 assists and ranked second in the conference with an average of 10.15 per set.
Duquesne received Rookie of the Week recognition eight out of 12 weeks this year, as
Avery Hobson also earned the honors twice. It was the first time the Dukes had two players earn multiple player of the week awards since 2008, when Tricia Mullen and Liz Homan won two and three times, respectively. Â
