UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Duquesne men's tennis team opened its spring season with a 6-1 loss on the road at Penn State. Junior
Kaipo Marshall was the lone Duke to grab a win in the match.
In doubles, juniorÂ
Tamirlan Teberikov and graduate studentÂ
David Georgadze put up a good fight against Malik Bhatnagar and Charl Morgan of Penn State, but ultimately fell, 6-4. Marshall and senior
Jin Dassanayake dropped their doubles match 6-1, and
Keita Duclos and
Liam Wickwire fell by the score of 6-0.
Marshall's matchup as the No. 1 in singles was tight, but he was able to come out on top to grab his first victory of the season. He dropped the first set, but won the next two in dominant fashion.Â
Georgadze also went to three sets in the No. 2-matchup, but he unfortunately ended up on the wrong side of things. Teberikov lost 2-6, 1-6, and Dassanayake fell to Sam Bossem of Penn State, 0-6, 1-6.
