FAIRFAX, Va. – The Duquesne men's tennis team closed out the regular-season with a 4-0 win over George Mason Sunday afternoon.

The Dukes (9-9, 2-2 A-10) will travel to Orlando, Florida for the 2022 Atlantic 10 Championships at the USTA National Campus. The event will begin on Thursday, April 28 with opening round matches. Seeding and match pairings will be announced by the league.

The Dukes got off to a strong start with wins at each of the top-two doubles positions to take the lead.
Alex Mascioli and
Alejandro Rodriguez-Vidal took the No. 1 position 6-2, while the team of
Joey Matthews and
Jin Dassanayake picked up a 6-1 win at the second spot.

Duquesne clinched the match with wins at the top-three singles positions. Rodriguez-Vidal got things started with a 7-6, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles over Momin Khan, before
Kaipo Marshall closed out a 6-4, 7-6 win at the No. 1 position over Rishab Sardana.

Mascioli clinched the match with his 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 come-from-behind win at No. 2 singles over Mason's Rithik Sardana.

The Dukes had their match with Fordham on Saturday cancelled and picked up a last-minute non-league contest against Morgan State on Saturday.

The Bears won the match 5-2, earning the doubles point and the top-four singles matchups to deal Duquesne the loss.

Dassanayake and
Joey Matthews added points to the Dukes ledger with wins at Nos. 5 and 6 singles. Dassanayake cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles, while Matthews picked up a nearly identical 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
