PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne men's tennis team defeated Division III Oberlin 7-0 at the Alpha Friday night.
The Dukes won two out of three in doubles play to secure the point, before taking all six singles matchups.
The team of
Alejandro Rodriguez-Vidal and
Tamirlan Teberikov took the top doubles spot 6-0, before
Alex Mascioli and
Jin Dassanayake clinched the point with a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles.
All six singles positions were won in straight sets, including a 6-1, 6-2 victory for Mascioli over Oberlin's Sean Billerbeck (6-1, 6-2) and a 6-1, 6-4 win for Rodriguez-Vidal over James Dill.
Jin Dassanyake knocked off the Yeomen's Rohan Gold while Teberikov defeated Sam Topper 6-1, 6-2.Â
Bode Vance and
Joey Matthews completed the sweep in singles play. Vance won over Sebastien Naginski 6-2, 6-1. Matthews won 6-1, 6-0 over Grant North.
The Dukes return to play the week of March 6-13 when they travel south to Florida for their annual Spring Break trip. The team will play multiple matches while down in the Sunshine State.
