PITTSBURGH – The Duquesne women's tennis team was knocked off 5-2 by Dayton Sunday afternoon in an Atlantic 10 match at the Alpha.

The Dukes (6-7, 1-1 A-10) tied up doubles play with a 6-3 win at the top-position by
Margot Pessy and
Daniela Latoni. Dayton (9-8, 2-2 A-10) pulled out the deciding match with a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.

Pessy continued her strong play on the afternoon, earning a solid three-set win over Erica Wojcikiewicz at No. 1 singles. Pessy dropped the first set 4-6, but rallied to win the next two by scores of 7-5 and 6-3 to pick up her second win of the day.

Latoni also scored a second win on the court. Her 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles tied the match up at 2-2.

Unfortunately, the Flyers earned a tight three-set win at No. 2 singles and cliched the match with wins at the Nos. 5 and 6 positions to deal the Dukes the loss.

Duquesne will play its home-finale on Saturday, April 2 when it welcomes Mercyhust to the Alpha on Senior Day. The match is set to start around 4 p.m.
