PITTSBURGH – The Duquesne University men's tennis team made short work of Ashland (D2) with a 7-0 win Wednesday at the Alpha.

The Dukes (5-6) won all three doubles matches to earn the first point of the match, before dispatching the Eagles in all six singles contests.

The team of
Alejandro Rodriguez-Vidal and
Tamirlan Teberikov opened the day with a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, before the tandem of
Joey Matthews and
Alex Mascioli clinched the doubles point with an identical 6-3 victory at the No. 3 position.

Straight-set wins by
Jin Dassanayake, Teberikov and
Bode Vance at the No. 4, 5 and 6 singles spots helped the Dukes secure the team victory. Mascioli also added a straight sets win at No. 3 singles.

Both of the top singles matches came down to a third set. Rodriguez-Vidal rallied past Ashland's William Rassat with a 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (10-8) victory at No. 2 singles.
Kaipo Marshall completed the shutout by holding off Stuart Brdicka 6-2, 6-7, 1-0 (10-7) at No. 1 singles.

The Dukes will open Atlantic 10 play next Friday, March 25 when they host St. Bonaventure at the Alpha around 7 p.m.
