PITTSBURGH – The Duquesne University men's tennis team opened the spring season with a 5-2 win over Mount St. Mary's at the Alpha Tennis Center Friday afternoon.

The team returned to play on Saturday and were defeated 5-2 by Carnegie Mellon.

Kaipo Marshall won both of his singles matches at the team's top spot. He dispatched Mount St. Mary's Christos Dagklis 6-3, 6-3 and followed it up with a straight sets win over CMU's Brandon Aprill (6-1, 6-1).

Alex Mascioli turned in a 6-3, 6-0 win over Mount St. Mary's Elliot Stevens at No. 2 singles, while
Jin Dassanayake claimed No. 3 singles with a 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 win. Both
Bode Vance (6-1, 7-5) and
Liam Wickwire (6-1, 7-5) earned wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, to help clinch the win over Mount St. Mary's.

Tamirlan Teberikov notched the Dukes other win against Carnegie Mellon. He defeated Raahil Doshi in a come-from-behind victory 2-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-3.

The Dukes are back on the court on Saturday, Feb. 12 when they take on Carnegie Mellon once again. The match will be played at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Center and start around 4 p.m.
