PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne men's tennis team earned a decisive 6-1 victory over Carnegie Mellon at the Alpha Saturday.
The Dukes won all three doubles matches and clinched the victory with five wins in singles play.
Duquesne took the top-two spots on the lineup card in three-set matches.
Kaipo Marshall won his match 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while
Alex Mascioli earned a 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.
Tamirlan Teberikov,
Bode Vance and
Liam Wickwire picked up their wins at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles to help secure the decision. Teberikov recovered from a 4-6 loss in the opening set with scores of 6-2, 6-2 to earn a win at No. 3, while Vance and Wickwire each won in straight sets.
Wickwire and Vance got the day started with a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles, before a 6-4 win by Terbikov and
Jin Dassanayake at No. 2 double clinched the doubles point on the scoreboard.
The Dukes return to the Alpha on Friday, Feb. 18 to host Saint Francis U in a non-conference match around 12 p.m.
