OLEAN, N.Y. - Jalen Adaway had 21 points and Osun Osunniyi added 18 points and 10 rebounds as St. Bonaventure (17-7, 9-4) defeated Duquesne (6-19, 1-12), 81-55, on Saturday night at Reilly Center in Olean, N.Y.
The win gave the Bonnies a sweep of the regular-season home-and-home series.
Leon Ayers III scored a team-high 12 for Duquesne, which saw its losing streak extended to 12 games.
Tre Williams finished with nine points and
Mounir Hima added a career-high nine off the bench for DU.
Duquesne trailed 18-13, before Osunniyi, who went 5-of-5 in the half, started an 11-0 run with a dunk.
Mike Bekelja, who scored a season-high five points off the bench, ended the run - and a five-plus minute DU scoring drought - with a jumper that made it 29-15.
The Bonnies, behind 13 points from Osunniyi and 12 from Adaway, led 39-22 at the half.
St. Bonaventure scored the first nine points out of the break to take a 26-point lead before Williams tipped in an Ayers III miss at the 15:40 mark.
The Bonnies lead reached 32 on a 3-pointer with over 10 minutes left.
SBU, which outrebounded the DU 42 to 25, outscored the Dukes 48-22 in the paint.
St. Bonaventure shot 52 percent, to 35 percent for Duquesne.
Duquesne returns to Pittsburgh to host league-leading Davidson (22-4, 12-2) on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 7:00 p.m. at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse (ESPN+). It will be the second meeting in nine days between the Dukes and Wildcats, as DU will be looking to avenge a 72-61 defeat at Davidson on Feb. 14.
NOTES
- The starting lineup combination of Kevin Easley Jr., Tre Williams, Tyson Acuff, Jackie Johnson III and Primo Spears was DU's 10th of the season and fourth in its past four games.
- Mike Bekelja, who entered the game with nine points in his first 17 games, finished with five off the bench. The five points were one shy of his career high set last year at Fordham.
- Mounir Hima scored a career-high nine points off the bench. His previous high was four against both Saint Louis and George Washington.
- St. Bonaventure's largest lead was 36 (69-33), the last of which came with 7:37 left ... Duquesne's lone lead came at 2-0 .... there was one tie and one lead change before Osun Osunniyi gave SBU the lead for good on a dunk with 17:03 left in the first half ... St. Bonaventure led for 37:03 ... Duquesne led for 0:59.
