Dukes Downed by Davidson

Easley Jr. and Acuff lead Dukes with 16 and 15 points respectively

PITTSBURGH - Hyunjung Lee scored a game-high 27 points to lead Atlantic 10-leading Davidson (23-4, 13-2) to a 74-50 win over Duquesne (6-20, 1-13) on Wednesday night at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.

Kevin Easley Jr. scored 16 points off the bench and Tyson Acuff added 15 for Duquesne, which suffered its 13th-straight defeat.

Mounir Hima grabbed 10 rebounds in his first career start for the Dukes.

Davidson went 11-of-23 from the 3-point arc, including 6-of-9 by Lee, in completing a sweep of the home-and-home series.

There were six ties and three lead changes as both teams shot well over 60 percent early.

Davidson, which went 7-of-14 from the arc in the opening 20 minutes, took its largest lead at 34-27, before DU responded with a bucket from Acuff and an Easley Jr. dunk to cut it to three.

Acuff had 15 for DU, which trailed 36-33 at the half.

Lee hit a pair of 3-pointers to give Davidson its first double-digit lead at 45-35 with just over 16 minutes left.

The Wildcats held the Dukes to six points in the first 10:40 of the second half in building a 16-point lead.

Duquesne briefly cut it to 55-44 on an Easley Jr. 3-pointer, before Davidson answered with an 11-1 run - featuring seven points from Lee - to take a 21-point lead.

Duquesne, which shot 40 percent for the game, shot 23 percent in scoring 17 second-half points.

Duquesne will hit the road for consecutive road games at Rhode Island (Feb. 26) and George Washington (Mar. 2), before concluding the A-10 regular season at home vs. La Salle on Mar. 5.

Saturday's game at URI, set for a 12:30 p.m. ET start, will be televised nationally by NBC Sports on the USA Network

NOTES
  • The starting lineup combination of Mounir Hima, Tre Williams, Toby Okani, Mike Bekelja and Tyson Acuff was DU's 11th of the season and fifth in its past five games. It was the first career start for Hima.
  • Hima finished with a career-high 10 rebounds in 31 minutes.
  • Tyson Acuff posted his fourth double-digit scoring game with 15 points. It was his first double-digit game since he scored a career-high 16 vs. UC Irvine on Dec. 19. Acuff went 3-of-5 from 3-point. His three 3-pointers were one shy of his career high (4-of-5) set vs. UC Irvine
  • Easley Jr.'s 16 points were his most since he had 18 vs. Bowling Green on Dec. 1.
  • DU's 14 assists were its second-most of the season, exceeded only by 15 in the season-opener vs. Rider.
  • Duquesne's 50 points were a season low.
  • Davidson's largest lead was 24 (72-48), the last of which came with 1:39 left ... Duquesne's lone lead came at 4-0 .... there were six ties and three lead change before Grant Huffman gave Davidson the lead for good on a 3-pointer with 10:44 left in the first half ... Davidson led for 32:27 ... Duquesne led for 3:28.
