PREVIEW: Swimming & Diving at A-10 Championships

PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne swimming and diving team will start its bid for a third conference title this week when they travel to the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio for the 2022 Atlantic 10 Women's Swimming and Diving Championship. The 2022 team features a number of returners from the 2021 second-place squad and a lot of depth. In the pool, Graduate student Mendy De Rooi has broken three school records since joining the Dukes (50-yard Freestyle, 100-Freestyle, and 100-yard Butterfly).

Sophomore Regan Linkous earned two medals in 2021 and comes into the championship with a number of first-place and top-three finishes. She looks to repeat or best her third-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke.
Senior Hanna Everhart, a ten-time medalist and one of the most decorated medalists in school history, looks to three-peat in the 200-yard Freestyle, having taken home the gold both in 2020 and 2021. Everhart has also been a key member of a number of top-placing relay teams. Given their depth, the Dukes have a lot of flexibility for relay line-ups and will contend for medals in all five relays.

The diving team has an opportunity to make a strong impact as well. Junior Sydney O'Donnell, the 2020 1-meter bronze medalist also finished fourth in the 3-meter in 2021, started the season by breaking her own 3-meter board record. She has had a strong season, having already registered an NCAA Zone cut score on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.
