GENEVA, Ohio – The Duquesne swimming and diving team returns to action this weekend at the Atlantic 10 Classic at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The Dukes are set to battle George Mason, Oakland, Saint Bonaventure and Cleveland State at the meet hosted at the site of the conference championship.

The Dukes are back in the pool after splitting a pair of duals in Richmond last weekend. Duquesne defeated George Mason on Friday, 171.5-127.5. The Dukes were narrowly defeated 152-145 by host Richmond in the second dual on Saturday.

Freshman
Kayla Johnson placed top-three in four events for the Dukes against Richmond and George Mason last weekend. She swam first in the 100-free (51.91), while placing second in the 50-free (23.60) against George Mason, 50-free (23.87) against Richmond, and 100-free (52.60).

For her efforts, Johnson was named the A-10 Freshman of the Week and became the first Duquesne swimmer or diver since
Sidney O'Donnell in 2020 to earn the rookie award. O'Donnell earned the honor twice that season.

Orla Egan opened the Richmond duals with a victory in the 1650-yard freestyle, narrowly finishing two second in front of George Mason's Grace Sweeney with a time of 17:41.74. Egan also paced the pool in the 500-yard freestyle against George Mason with a time of 5:06.62. She bested her time on Saturday, hitting the wall in 5:05.52 to win the event against Richmond.

The Dukes dominated the dives versus George Mason.
Amy Read posted a 287.00 in the three-meter dive and a 263.10 in the one-meter dive to win both events. She was paced in both events by
Sidney O'Donnell,
Ashley Felitsky and
Morgan Doolittle.

Against Richmond on Saturday, Read and O'Donnell paced the Dukes once again at the top. Read won the one-meter dive with a score of 296.10. O'Donnell nabbed the top honors in the three-meter dive with a score of 280.20.

The Dukes will make the short trek out to Loretto, Pennsylvania to take on Saint Francis on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m.
