PITTSBURGH - Duquesne freshman guard Primo Spears has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the second time this season for his performance in Duquesne's game vs. St. Bonaventure last week.
The 6-3 guard went 7-of-13 from the field (2-of-3 from 3-point) and added six assists with just one turnover in 35 minutes of action against the Bonnies.
Defensively, Spears helped limit SBU Player of the Year candidate Kyle Lofton to just three points on 1-of-7 shooting.
Spears, who was also named A-10 ROW on Nov. 15, is DU's first two-time Rookie of the Week since Sincere Carry earned the award twice in 2019.
Spears who has led the Dukes in scoring a team-high seven times, has scored 20 or more in two of four A-10 games (21 at UMass & 20 at Fordham).
He leads the team with a 17.8 ppg. average in A-10 play.
Duquesne (6-10, 1-3) plays at Saint Joseph's on Wed., Jan. 26 at 7:00 p.m.
