Duquesne to Host Sacred Heart in NEC Championship Game April 11

PITTSBURGH - First-place Duquesne (4-0) will host Sacred Heart (2-1) in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship game on Sunday, April 11 at Arthur J. Rooney Field, conference officials announced on Tuesday morning. A kickoff time for the NEC Championship game is still to be determined. The game is slated to air live on ESPN3.

The Dukes secured the top seed in the championship and the right to host by capping an undefeated regular season with a 20-10 victory at Bryant on Sunday.

The Pioneers earned the other spot in the title game after posting the second-highest winning percentage in the conference on the season. Sacred Heart's regular season finale at Wagner scheduled for March 28 was canceled after the Seahawks paused all team-related activities due to positive COVID-19 protocols within their program.

The Dukes defeated Sacred Heart 30-27 in the first game of the spring season on March 7 at Rooney Field. Duquesne has won six consecutive meetings with the Pioneers, as the Dukes own a 12-4 advantage in the all-time series.

The winner of the contest will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Playoffs. The FCS Playoff bracket will be announced on Sunday, April 17 with the 16-team national tournament beginning the following weekend.
