Duquesne (1-1, 1-0), coming off an Atlantic 10-opening 1-0 win at St. Bonaventure, plays its first home match since Oct. 26, 2019 when it hosts Dayton (0-3, 0-1) on Wednesday, Mar. 17 at 4:00 p.m. (ESPN+).
The Dayton game is the first of three in a row at home for the Dukes who will host Saint Louis on Saturday, Mar. 20 and St. Bonaventure on Saturday, Mar. 27. The the three consecutive home games are the lone home games this season for the Dukes during the abbreviated A-10 season.
Due to a scheduling conflict, Saturday's Saint Louis game will not be streamed.
ROONEY FIELD SPRING SPORT ATTENDANCE GUIDELINES
- Due to social distancing requirements and limited seating available at Rooney Field, attendance for home men's and women's soccer matches as well as lacrosse games played this spring is limited to family and friends of participating Duquesne student-athletes.
- In order to ensure the safety of student-athletes and the campus community as a whole, the only fans who will be admitted are those who are listed by DU student-athletes on a monitored, pre-approved pass list.
- Masks must be worn at all times while on campus.
- Walk-up fans will not be permitted.
- Fans will not be permitted to stand along fencing under the Mellon Hall overhang or on Academic Walk.
- Tailgating is prohibited.
- Rooney Field will open to fans 30 minutes prior to the start of the event.
- There will be no field access prior to or following the game.
- Concessions will not be available. Those in attendance are permitted to bring unopened non-alcoholic beverages and snacks. No coolers or large bags will be permitted.
- Parking - Parking for those on pass lists will be available in the Forbes Avenue Parking Garage. Please take the elevator to the 8th Floor and use the walkway between the Duquesne Student Union and College Hall to walk to Rooney Field.

THE SPRING SEASON
- The Dukes are in the midst of a six-game Atlantic 10 schedule.
- DU will face St. Bonaventure (1-0 W on Mar. 13), Dayton and Saint Louis twice as part of the West Division of the A-10. Davidson, George Washington, George Mason and VCU comprise the Central and Fordham, La Salle, UMass, Rhode Island and Saint Joseph's will compete in the North.
- The three divisional champions, plus one at-large team will compete for the Atlantic 10 Championship, which will be played on the campus of the highest seed on April 15 & 17.
THE SERIES VS. DAYTON
- Dayton leads the series 13-7-1, however DU holds a 6-5-0 advantage in matches in Pittsburgh.
- UD has gone 9-0-1 in the past 10 meetings with Duquesne. DU's last series win came on Oct. 13, 2006 on Rooney Field (2-1).
- The Flyers took the last meeting by a 2-0 score in Dayton on Oct. 23, 2019. Only three members of the current roster (Jack Shearer, Kendall Newman and Nate Dragisich) saw action in that game.
THE SERIES VS. SAINT LOUIS
- The Dukes are looking for their first victory in the 12-game series (SLU leads 11-0-1).
- In matches in Pittsburgh, Saint Louis leads 6-0.
- SLU has shut DU out in each of the past five matches, two of which were 1-0 and a third that was a 0-0 tie on Oct. 17, 2018.
- Saint Louis won the last meeting between the two, 1-0 in Pittsburgh on Oct. 26, 2019.
LAST GAME
- Duquesne took advantage of a man advantage and a strong second-half wind at their back to take a 1-0 win at St. Bonaventure on Saturday.
- Freshman Maxi Hopfer, in is first game, scored from the top of the box in the 63rd minute for the Dukes.
- Hopfer, who was making his first start, had a match-high five shots.
- DU, which was outshot 5-3 while going against the wind in the first half, turned it around to outshoot the Bonnies 6-2 over the second 45 minutes. Both of SBU's shots came in the final five minutes
- It was Duquesne's first shutout sine a 1-0 win over GW on Oct. 12, 2019 and first road win since a 2-1 victory at Saint Joseph's on Sept. 21, 2019.
- Three Dukes, Hopfer, Torge Witteborg and Alex Crabbs, made their first career starts. Returnee Eric Zech made his first start of the season.
- DU played a men up after SBU was assessed a red card in the 35th minute.
QUICK HITS
- Duquesne is in its eighth season under head coach Chase Brooks. Brooks has led the Dukes to three Atlantic 10 Conference tournament appearances (2013, 2015 & 2016).
- The Dukes return three field players who started 10 or more games for last season's 8-8-1 team: senior F Jack Shearer (17/16), junior, D Kendall Newman (12/10) and sophomore M/F /Nate Dragisich (17/16) - a member of the 2019 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team.
- In addition, grad student D/M Ryan Landry, who has played in 47 games with 41 starts, but missed last year due to injury and junior D Eric Zech, who started 16 games as a freshman, but was limited to five games last year due to injury, are also back.
- In all, DU returns just seven players from last year's roster and nine players with DU experience including Landry and Zech.
- Second-year transfer Shearer led all returnees in career games with 52 (35 at St. John's) and career starts with 42 (26 at SJU) entering the season. Landry (45 games) and Newman (27 games) were the only other returnees who entered the season having played in more than 21 games.
- Shearer leads all returnees with eight career goals (team-high five at Duquesne last season). Nate Dragisich (2 goals), Ryan Landry (2 goals) and Eric Zech (1 goal) are the only other returnees who entered the season with a goal in a DU uniform.
- The Dukes have 19 first-year players including 13 freshmen (one redshirt) and six transfers in junior F Ade Akinjogbin (Wofford), sophomore M Rodrigo Albayeros (Florida Atlantic), sophomore D Jacob Benintendi (Xavier), junior D Jaime Borjas (Graceland U.), junior M Logan Muck (Evansville) and sophomore D Torge Wittenborg (Ottawa University-Arizona).
- Junior Domenic Nascimben is in his first season as the starting goalkeeper. Nascimben, a native of Sydney, Australia, saw action in one game last season. He entered the season having played in six career games (425 career minutes) with four starts. He has given up just one goal (five saves) in two games this season.
- Duquesne has produced the ninth-most Men's Soccer Academic All-Americas over the past 20 years.
- DU has been recognized by the United Soccer Coaches for its outstanding academic performance with a Team Academic Award (minimum 3.0 team GPA) 18 times in the past 21 years. No other Atlantic 10 men's soccer program has been recognized more than Duquesne since the award was instituted in 1996.
- Duquesne produced at least one Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team member in six of the past seven years.
