PITTSBURGH – The Duquesne University Athletic Department announced on Monday that attendance at home football games will be limited to immediate family members of Duquesne players and coaching staff due to health and safety concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
*** For the NEC Championship game scheduled for April 11 at Arthur J. Rooney Field, tickets will also be allotted to immediate family members of Sacred Heart players and coaching staff.
In addition, there are several policies in place for the 2021 spring season at Rooney Field:
- Rooney Field will open to fans 30 minutes before kickoff.
- Masks must be worn at all times.
- Fans must sit in their ticketed seat.
- Social distancing is requested.
- Tailgating is prohibited.
- There will be no field access prior to or following the game.
- Concessions will not be available. Those in attendance are permitted to bring unopened non-alcoholic beverages and snacks. No coolers or large bags will be permitted.
- No fans will be permitted to stand along fencing under the Mellon Hall overhang or on Academic Walk.
- Parking - Parking will not be available on Bluff Street this season. All those with tickets for the game should park in the Forbes Avenue Parking Garage. Please take the elevator to the 8th Floor and use the walkway between the Duquesne Student Union and College Hall to walk to Rooney Field.
On March 1, 2021, Governor Tom Wolf announced an increase in outdoor event venue capacity to 20%. However, due to the need to ensure six feet of space between seats and no seating on Academic Walk, Duquesne will not be able to further increase our capacity limits at this time.
The Dukes open the spring season this Sunday, March 7 at Rooney Field against Sacred Heart. Kickoff is slated for noon ET.
