PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne swimming and diving team celebrated senior day on Saturday with a 149-95 victory over visiting Saint Francis U at Towers Pool.
Prior to the meet, Duquesne honored its four seniors
Emma Brinton (Landenberg, Pa. / Avon Grove),
Cateri Christinis (Charleroi, Pa. / Oakland Catholic),
Clare Flanagan (Allison Park, Pa. / Hampton) and
Peyton Joiner (Northford, Conn. / North Branford).
The Dukes' 400-yard medley relay team of Brinton,
Laura Goettler (Butler, Pa. / Butler),
Audrey Steen (San Pedro, Calif. / San Pedro) and
Hanna Everhart (Bloomsburg, Pa. / Bloomsburg Area) kicked off the meet with a first-place finish in the event with a time of 3:54.46.
Emma Menzer (Newark, Del. / Newark Charter) paced the 200-yard freestyle at 1:54.71 and the 400-yard IM at 4:30.13 for Duquesne.
Steen won the 100-yard backstroke at 57.73 while
Sophia Perez (Chapel Hill, N.C. / East Chapel Hill) bested the field in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:09.49 and
Sydney Sherman (Erie, Pa. / Villa Maria Academy) finished first in the 100-yard freestyle at 55.21.
Goettler won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:20.39 and
Molly Brennan (Pittsford, N.Y. / Pittsford Sutherland) won the 500-yard freestyle at 5:09.96.
The Dukes' 200-yard freestyle relay team with Everhart,
Leah Reisker (Gainesville, Fla. / F.W. Buchholz), Sherman and Steen capped the meet with a win in the event with a mark of 1:38.58.
Head coach David Sheets: "It was a great day to celebrate all of our seniors. They have meant so much to our program and to send them off with a victory was special. The team overall did very well. I'm excited where we are but definitely looking forward to where we can go."

Duquesne will again take on the Red Flash on Friday, March 12, this time on the road in Loretto, Pa. The DU divers will travel to Youngstown State for the YSU Diving Invite on Saturday, March 20.
