The Dukes built a 23-9 lead after the first quarter thanks to a 14-2 run keyed by a pair of 3-pointers by Elliott. Duquesne pushed its advantage to 14 in the second frame at 31-17 when Myers buried a three following a La Salle turnover.
The Explorers responded with an 11-1 surge to close the first half, cutting the Dukes' lead to 32-28 at the break.
La Salle would knot the score at 44-44 midway through the third quarter before the Explorers eventually took their first lead of the night on a Jay Haynes 3-pointer with just over three minutes left in the third stanza. Duquesne would tie it up at 49-49 heading into the final quarter of action.
