PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Despite cutting a Saint Joseph's lead to five points late in the game, Duquesne could not overcome a scoreless third quarter in a 60-52 loss to the Hawks on Sunday afternoon in the Dukes' regular season finale at Michael J. Hagan '85 Arena.
Duquesne closes the regular season with a 5-10 overall record and a 4-7 mark in Atlantic 10 play.
With the score knotted at 32-32 at halftime, the Dukes missed all 12 of their field goal attempts in the third quarter as Saint Joseph's built its advantage to nine at 41-32 after three periods.
Duquesne would cut the Hawks' lead to five points at 55-50 with 1:15 remaining with a 10-2 run keyed by four points by
Diamond Bragg. Saint Joseph's responded with a Kaliah Henderson jumper to go back on top by seven at 57-50.
The Dukes again minimized the deficit to five on a pair of free throws by Bragg, but Katie Mayock connected on a jumper on the other end to seal the victory for Saint Joseph's.
Bragg matched a game-high with 16 points to lead the Dukes, connecting on 5-of-9 field goal attempts and 5-of-8 shots from the charity stripe. Bragg added a team-high seven rebounds for Duquesne as well.
Libby Bazelak dished out a game-high five assists to go with five points.
Amaya Hamilton posted nine points while
Laia Sole chipped in eight points off the bench for the Dukes.
Henderson paced the Hawks with 16 points and seven boards.
Duquesne used a 9-2 run from the end of the first quarter into the second frame, gaining six-point edge at 21-15 with 8:33 to go in the first half highlighted by six points from Sole. Saint Joseph's would outscore the Dukes 16-11 the rest of the stanza to tie it up at 32-32 heading into halftime.

Duquesne will travel to Richmond, Va. for the 2021 Atlantic 10 Championship on March 10-14 hosted by VCU at the Siegel Center. The Dukes will learn their seed, opponent and game time for their first round matchup as announced by the A-10 this week.
