OLEAN, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure shot 52.6 percent from the floor, including 50.0 percent from behind the arc in a 72-55 victory over visiting Duquesne on Monday night at the Reilly Center. The loss snaps a two-game winning streak for the Dukes (4-9, 3-6 A-10) on the season. In addition, Duquesne had won eight straight over the Bonnies (6-12, 5-10 A-10) coming into Monday night's contest.
Ny Langley scored a team and season-high 17 points off the bench for the Dukes, shooting 4-of-7 from the field and 8-of-10 from the free throw line. She added a team-high six boards, as well.
Amaya Hamilton added 11 points and a career-high five blocks.
Asianae Johnson scored a game-high 18 points to lead four Bonnies players in double-figures. She also dished out a game-high nine assists for St. Bonaventure.
The Bonnies capitalized on seven Duquesne turnovers in the first quarter, gaining a 21-10 advantage after the opening frame.
St. Bonaventure would keep that momentum going into the second quarter, closing the half on a 14-1 run in building the lead to 46-21 heading into the locker room. The Bonniesshot 63.3 percent from the field in the first half, knocking down 7-of-11 attempts from long range compared to the Dukes' 26.7 percent shooting performance.
Duquesne would outscore the Bonnies 16-14 in the third quarter with a team-high six points coming from Hamilton in the stanza.
The Dukes opened the fourth quarter with an 8-0 run to cut the St. Bonaventure edge to 15 at 60-45, but the Bonnies responded with a pair of buckets to build its lead back to 19. Duquesne could not shrink the St. Bonaventure advantage to under 13 the rest of the way.
The Dukes' bench outscored the Bonnies' reserves 32-21 in the game keyed by Langley's 17-point performance. Duquesne assisted on 15 of its 18 field goals, as
Libby Bazelak recorded a team-high four helpers on the night.
