PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne cross country teams are set to travel to Cedarville, Ohio for the 2021 Atlantic 10 Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships hosted by Dayton at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course.
The men's five-mile race is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by the women's five-kilometer race at 10:50 a.m.
At last season's A-10 Championship, the Duquesne women's team captured its third A-10 cross country title, marking the Dukes' first championship since 2014. DU returns three of its five scorers from that meet, including
Grace Sisson (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Fox Chapel) who placed 20th,
Tori Kocsis (Johnstown, Pa. / Richland) who finished 21st and
Ava Pietrzyk (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Hills) who posted a 23rd-place showing for the Dukes.
The Dukes return four of five scorers from last season's A-10 Championship, highlighted by
Sam Snodgrass (Bridgeville, Pa. / South Fayette) who registered a 22nd-place finish for Duquesne.
Matt O'Neill (North Huntington, Pa. / Norwin) returns as does
Nick Fetzer (Johnstown, Pa. / Westmont Hilltop) and
Anthony Litrenta (New Castle, Pa. / New Castle).
The DU women were picked to finish third in the preseason coaches poll while the men were voted to finish seventh out of the league's 14 teams. The host Flyers were tabbed as the women's championship favorite while defending champion Richmond was picked as the men's favorite.
This will be the first A-10 Championship race under first-year head coach
