@DuqSwimDive Adds Fink, Stright to Coaching Staff

PITTSBURGH – Duquesne swimming and diving head coach David Sheets recently announced the addition of Morgan Fink '17 as assistant coach and Jeanine Stright as the Dukes' diving coach to the Duquesne coaching staff.

Fink served as a volunteer assistant during the 2019-20 season after two years as a student assistant while enrolled in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program on The Bluff. During those two seasons as a student assistant, she helped the Dukes win their first two Atlantic 10 Championships in program history in 2018 and '19.

The Bridgeville, Pa. native joined the coaching staff after a four-year standout career in the pool for the Dukes. She achieved school-record times in both the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard backstroke and still owns three all-time top-10 marks in program history in the 100 back, 200 back and 100-yard breaststroke.

Fink helped Duquesne to a pair of second-place finishes in 2016 and '17 at the A-10 Swimming and Diving Championship, tallying the two highest point totals in program history at the league championship meet at that time. She was a four-year finals qualifier for the Dukes at the A-10 Championship, highlighted by a fourth-place finish in the 100 back in 2016.

Stright served as the diving coach at Johns Hopkins University from 1998-00 and also worked as a coach of U.S. Club Diving Instructor for Dive Hopkins. While at Johns Hopkins, she mentored divers who were ranked in the top ten nationally as well as many regionally-ranked divers.

Stright then moved to Michigan, where she coached diving and gymnastics at several area high schools.

A standout diver at Shaler Area High School, Stright still owns school diving records for the Titans and competed at the WPIAL and PIAA Championships in high school. She was also a competitive gymnast for eight years and was a state champion on uneven parallel bars and vault.

Following high school, Stright attended Towson University where she qualified four times for the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship.

Jeanine Stright

David Sheets on hiring of Fink and Stright: "I am extremely excited to welcome Morgan and Jeanine to the Duquesne Swimming & Diving Family. For Morgan this is more of a homecoming than anything else. Morgan is a great fit for our program and I could not think of anyone else to fill this vacancy. Her educational background and knowledge of the mechanics of the body will be a huge benefit. Morgan has a great demeanor on the deck, is a positive role model and the ladies that have worked with her in the past have nothing but respect for her. I can't wait to work with her again!

Jeanine has a background in diving that will become an asset to the program. When we knew we had this spot to fill a lot of people pointed to Jeanine to fill our vacancy. From the minute we sat down and discussed the position I knew she would be a good fit and would be the person to take the program and build on its past successes."
