GENEVA, Ohio - The two-time defending Atlantic 10 champion Duquesne swimming and diving team earned two medals on Friday night including a school-record performance as the Dukes remain in second place at the A-10 Championship following three days of competition at the SPIRE Institute.
George Washington leads with 424 points followed by Duquesne second with 390 and Fordham third with 374.
Hanna Everhart (Bloomsburg, Pa. / Bloomsburg Area) won gold for the Dukes in the 200-yard freestyle with a school-record time of 1:48.10, topping the previous school record of 1:48.37 set by Sam Ray in 2016.
Carson Gross (York, Pa. / York Suburban) garnered a fifth-place finish in the event at 1:49.49 followed by
Lauren Devorace (Rocky River, Ohio / Rocky River) sixth at 1:49.61.
Audrey Steen (San Pedro, Calif. / San Pedro) took home a bronze medal in the 100-yard backstroke with a mark of 54.74, medaling in the event for the second consecutive season.
Clare Flanagan (Allison Park, Pa. / Hampton) recorded an eight-place finish in the event with a time of 56.16 for Duquesne.
Steen added a sixth-place mark in the 100-yard butterfly at 55.33, while
Sophia Perez finished 15th at 56.15.
Erin Kuhn (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) earned a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.60 for the Dukes.
Madison Dickert (Media, Pa. / Penncrest) posted a 10th-place mark of 1:03.55 in the event for Duquesne, as well.
Emma Menzer (Newark, Del. / Newark Charter) placed seventh for Duquesne in the 400-yard IM at 4:19.70 while
Emma Brinton (Landenberg, Pa. / Avon Grove) finished ninth in the event with a time of 4:19.51.
On the 3-meter boards,
Sidney O'Donnell placed fourth for the Dukes with a score of 268.90 in the finals,
Sawyer Weitzel placed eighth at 224.00 and
Adrienne White ninth at 265.55.
Duquesne closed out the night with a seventh-place showing in the 400-yard medley relay by Steen, Kuhn, Perez and Gross with a time of 3:44.58.
The Dukes cap the 2020 A-10 Championship on Saturday in Geneva with the 1,650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and 400 free relay.
