PITTSBURGH – Duquesne University volleyball head coach Steve Opperman announced the signing of 6-4 outside hitter Anna Shoemake (Beavercreek/Beavercreek, Ohio) to a National Letter of Intent.
Shoemake was recent named the Great Western Ohio Conference (GWOC) Athlete of the Year after leading Beavercreek to a 18-3 overall record and a GWOC Championship.
"I am really excited to welcome Anna to the Duquesne Family," said Opperman of the newest Duke. "She is a player that is continually developing and can turn into a great presence at the net. At 6-4, she has the size and good foot speed that will help her at the next level. We look forward to having Anna in the gym and challenging her teammates to be better every day."
Shoemake posted 352 kills during her senior season, which led the Battling Beavers and ranked second in the conference. She was named to the Junior Volleyball Association Watch List in both 2019 and 2020. Throughout her career at Beavercreek, she racked up 723 kills, 121 service aces, 353 digs and 64 blocks. She recorded an impressive .274 career hitting percentage through 201 matches.
Along with Beaverfalls High, Shoemake played for Elite VTC club team. She plans to major in physical therapy.
