PITTSBURGH – Duquesne will appear on national television a total of six times as part of the 2020-21 Atlantic 10 Conference schedule released today.
The Dukes, who were picked to finish fifth in the A-10 preseason poll, will host four TV games including Jan. 5 vs. Davidson (CBSSN), Jan. 9 vs. Fordham (NBCSN), Feb. 2 vs. Dayton (ESPN) and a Feb. 7 Super Bowl Sunday matchup with VCU (NBCSN).
The Dayton game marks DU's first home ESPN appearance since 2012.
DU will also play televised road games at George Washington on Jan. 2 (NBCSN) and at Dayton on Jan. 13 (CBSSN).
The 14 Atlantic 10 schools will face each other once and five schools twice in the seventh-straight year of an 18-game regular-season league schedule. DU's five home-and-home opponents include Davidson, Dayton, Fordham, George Washington, and St. Bonaventure.
The conference schedule will feature 75 nationally televised games on the league's three media partners: ESPN, CBS Sports and NBCSN. Through its television package and all-encompassing digital agreement with ESPN+, every home game for all 14 Atlantic 10 members will again be available on TV or digitally.
The league also made adjustments to its traditional schedule model to factor in potential interruption from the COVID-19 pandemic. There will be at least nine conference games played in December, and each team will have two bye dates between Jan. 13 and Feb. 24. In addition, the weekend of March 5-7 will be left open. The adjustments were made to provide windows for make-up dates and spread the schedule out to accommodate any contest that may need rescheduled.
Duquesne, which returns five starters from last year's 21-9 team, will open with back-to-back road games at Saint Louis (Dec. 30) and George Washington (Jan. 2). The GW game marks the first of four consecutive televised games for the Dukes who return to Pittsburgh to face Davidson (Jan. 5) and Fordham (Jan. 9) followed by the game at Dayton (Jan. 13).
DU is at St. Bonaventue on Jan. 16, at home vs. Rhode Island on Jan. 20 and at Fordham Jan. 27 before returning for a three-game homestand against Saint Joseph's (Jan. 30). Dayton (Feb. 2) and VCU (Feb. 7).
The Dukes then play back-to-back road games at George Mason (Feb. 13) and Davidson (Feb. 17), before finishing the regular season with three-of-four at home: Feb. 20 vs. UMass, Feb. 24 vs. GW, Feb. 27 at La Salle and Mar. 3 vs. St. Bonaventure.
Duquesne's matchup at A-10 preseason favorite Richmond is a flex game with a date to be determined.
The 2021 Atlantic 10 Championship - which features all 14 teams - will open at Brooklyn's Barclays Center with a pair of first round games Wednesday, March 10 followed by second round games on Thursday, March 11. The winners of the four Thursday games will advance to the quarterfinal round on Friday, March 12. First round games will be carried by ESPN+, and the second round and quarterfinal games will be televised by NBCSN. Semifinal games will air on CBSSN on Saturday, March 13 and the championship game will be carried by CBS on Selection Sunday, March 14 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
The top four regular-season finishers will receive first round byes.
Duquesne will announce home game sites and times, as well as additional non-conference games, at a later date.
