PITTSBURGH – Duquesne will open Atlantic 10 play with back-to-back games against 2019 Atlantic 10 Champion Saint Louis followed by a clash with one of the 2019-20 preseason favorites, Davidson, as part of the conference schedule released today.
DU, in its third season under head coach
Keith Dambrot, will appear on national TV six times in league play, including three times on NBCSN (Jan. 5 vs. Davidson, Feb. 8 vs. St. Bonaventure & Feb. 16 at Fordham), once on CBSSN (Jan. 29 vs. Dayton) and twice on Stadium (Feb. 22 at Dayton and Feb. 26 at St. Bonaventure). Four of the Dukes' eight February games will be televised.
Due to the renovation of the on-campus UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse, Duquesne will be playing home games at three venues in 2019-20. In addition to four previously announced nonconference games at La Roche University's Kerr Fitness Center (vs. Lamar, Lipscomb, VMI and Columbia), the Dukes will play five conference games - in addition to the season opener vs. Princeton - at PPG Paints Arena. DU will also play four Atlantic 10 games at Robert Morris's new UPMC Events Center in Moon Township, Pa.
In addition to the Saint Louis (Jan. 2) and Davidson (Jan. 5) games, Duquesne will also face St. Bonaventure (Feb. 8) and George Mason (Feb. 29) at Robert Morris. The Fordham (Jan. 15), Dayton (Jan. 29), La Salle (Feb. 2), George Washington (Feb. 19) and Richmond (Mar. 6) games will all be played at PPG Paints Arena.
DU's road opponents include Saint Joseph's (Jan. 8), George Washington (Jan. 11), Rhode Island (Jan. 22), Massachusetts (Jan. 25), Saint Louis (Feb. 5), Fordham (Feb. 16), Dayton (Feb. 22), St. Bonaventure (Feb. 22) and VCU (Mar. 3).
The 14 Atlantic 10 schools will face each other once and five schools twice in the sixth-straight year of an 18-game regular-season league schedule. DU's five home-and-home opponents - which are unchanged from last year - include Dayton, George Washington, Fordham, St. Bonaventure and Saint Louis.
The Dukes return over 75 percent of their scoring from a team that led the A-10 with a 73.5 points per game average last season.
This marks the seventh year of the long-term television agreement between the A-10 and ESPN, CBS Sports Network and NBCSN, and the third year of the Stadium partnership. Atlantic 10 institutions reside in states that comprise 33.3 million television households, approximately 30 percent of the total national media market. There are nine A-10 institutions in or adjacent to the top 25 media markets in the country.
The 2020 Atlantic 10 Championship returns to Brooklyn's Barclays Center on March 11-15. There will be a pair of first round games Wednesday, March 11 followed by second round games on Thursday, March 12. The winners of those four games will advance to the quarterfinal round on Friday, March 13. First round games will be carried by ESPN+, and the second round and quarterfinal games will be televised by NBCSN. Semifinal games will air on CBSSN on Saturday, March 14 and the championship game will be carried by CBS on NCAA Selection Sunday, March 15.
The top four regular-season finishers will receive first round byes.
The Dukes open the 2019-20 season at PPG Paints Arena against Princeton on Nov. 5 at 6:00 p.m. The Princeton game will be followed by the Duquesne women vs. Kent State.
