OPENING KICKOFF
â–º
The Dukes continue a three-game road swing at Dayton on Saturday, their second-straight game in the state of Ohio. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. from Welcome Stadium.

â–º Duquesne fell by a score of 24-14 at Youngstown State last week. The Penguins (3-0) cracked the FCS Top 25 with the win. The Flyers defeated Robert Morris 34-31 on the road last Saturday after topping nationally-ranked Indiana State in their first game of the season.

â–º The Dukes have won three consecutive games over Dayton. The Flyers own a 4-3 advantage at Welcome Stadium.

â–º The Dukes were picked to repeat as NEC champions in the conference preseason poll. Duquesne has been selected to finish first or second in the poll for nine straight years.

â–º All-American running back A.J. Hines returns for his senior season pacing all active FCS players in career rushing yards and touchdowns. Named a preseason All-American by a number of organizations, Hines is just 11 yards from becoming the third player in program history to rush for 4,000 yards.

- Duquesne has dropped two of its last three at Welcome Stadium, but claimed a 28-23 victory in its last trip to Dayton in 2017. Tommy Stuart scored four total touchdowns (two passing, two rushing) and tallied 253 yards through the air and 51 on the ground in that win for the Dukes.

- Although Dayton and Duquesne share membership in the Atlantic 10 Conference in other sports, football meetings between the two schools were scarce until the 2008 season.

- The quarterback and placekicker for the Dukes in the 1920 win over Dayton was none other than Art Rooney. Rooney, for whom Duquesne's home field is named, went on to become one of the most respected figures in the history of the National Football League as the owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rooney was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1964.

- Dayton's 42-16 win at Rooney Field in 2001 - in addition to ending a 14-game DU home winning streak - marked a renewal of the series. In 2002, Duquesne, ranked No. 2 in The Sports Network I-AA Mid-Major Top 10, went to Dayton and defeated the No. 1 Flyers 35-28.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
- Dayton opened the season with the biggest upset in program history, knocking off 14th-ranked Indiana State.

- The Flyers followed that up with a 34-31 road victory over Robert Morris in Moon Township last weekend.

- Cranberry native Jack Cook has thrown for 251 and 238 yards in the Indiana State and Robert Morris games, respectively. He also has four passing touchdowns and three rushing scores through the first two contests of the year.

- UD kicker Sam Webster was named the Pioneer Football League Special Teams Player of the Week after scoring 10 points in the win over the Colonials.

- Head coach Rick Chamberlin is in his 13th season at the helm and 45th year overall with the Dayton program. He owns an 87-38 career record with the Flyers.

- Dayton is receiving votes in both the STATS FCS Top 25 and AFCA Coaches Poll.

LAST MEETING
Duquesne 31, Dayton 26 (2018)

- Nehari Crawford posted career-highs of 11 receptions for 223 yards with a pair of touchdowns as Duquesne held off a late Dayton comeback in a 31-26 victory over the Flyers.

- Daniel Parr completed 21-of-27 pass attempts for a career-high 333 yards and three touchdowns for Duquesne.

- Brett Zanotto finished with a career-high 10 tackles (nine solo) with a pair of tackles for loss for the Dukes. He was later named NEC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance.

- A.J. Hines rushed for a score but missed most of the second half due to injury.

- The Dukes defense forced the Flyers to convert on just three-of-six trips inside the red zone, while Duquesne was a perfect three-for-three on the day.

LAST TIME OUT
Youngstown State 34, Duquesne 14

- Perennial FCS power Youngstown State (3-0) took advantage of three Duquesne turnovers in earning a 34-14 victory over the visiting Dukes at Stambaugh Stadium.

- The Penguins jumped out to a 21-0 lead before Daniel Parr found Jake Dixon on a four-yard touchdown pass. Dixon's first career touchdown reception cut the YSU lead to 21-7 at the half.

- The Dukes were marching deep into Penguin territory on the opening drive of the third quarter when a fumble gave the ball back to YSU.

- The Penguins would score two straight touchdowns to gain a 34-7 edge.

- Lentivone Lesane found the end zone for the first time in his career on a four-yard rush, shrinking the final margin to 34-14. Lesane's touchdown capped a 10-play, 59-yard scoring drive.

- Chris Favoroso led the Dukes with a career-high 10 tackles (six solo) with a sack.

- Mark Allen matched a career-high with 62 yards on the ground. His previous high was 62 yards against Akron last season while at Penn State.
