LEESBURG, Va. - The Duquesne women's cross country team continued the 2019 season on Friday evening at the George Mason Invitational, registering a third-place finish at the event at Oatlands Plantation with a score of 69. Richmond won the event with a score of 49 followed by George Washington second with 52.
The Dukes - competing on the 5K course which will host the 2019 Atlantic Championship on Nov. 2 - were led by
Megan Aller's (New Kensington, Pa. / Kiski Area) fifth-place showing with a time of 18:41.3. She paced two DU runners in the top 10 as
Rachel Valotta (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Plum) placed 10th at 18:54.6.
Ava Pietrzyk (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Hills) finished 14th at 19:08.0 while
Morgan Perkins (Erie, Pa. / Mercyhurst Prep) recorded a 19th-place performance at 19:18.2 and
Jennifer Gerland (Garden City, N.Y. / Garden City) rounded out scoring for the Dukes in 21st at 19:24.8.
Duquesne is back in action tomorrow morning with the Saint Vincent Invitational and again on Saturday, Oct. 5 with the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa.
