GENEVA, Ohio - Duquesne rising junior
Emma Brinton (Landenburg, Pa. / Avon Grove) competed at the 2019 Futures Championship at the SPIRE Institute over the weekend in Geneva, Ohio, recording a pair of first-place finishes at the event.
Brinton paced the 400 IM on Friday with a time of 4:55.23 followed by a first-place showing in the 200 IM on Sunday with a mark of 2:18.25, representing new long course team records. She added a program-record showing in the 100-meter backstroke as well with a time of 1:04.10, good for fourth place in the event.
She knocked over seven seconds off her time in the 400 IM, as her top mark in the event was 5:02.53 coming into the meet.
Through her first two years on The Bluff, Brinton has taken home eight medals at the Atlantic 10 Championship, including six gold medals.
The 2018 A-10 Most Outstanding Rookie Performer is a two-time gold medalist in both the 200 IM and 400 IM and owns eight school records to date.
