NORFOLK, Va. - The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) released its 2018-19 Scholar All-America Teams this week, with Duquesne's
Emma Brinton (Landenberg, Pa. / Avon Grove) and
Abigail Stauffer (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg) earning Honorable Mention accolades.
The award recognizes students that have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and competed at their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships or achieved a "B" time standard.
This marks Stauffer's fourth consecutive CSCAA Scholar All-America honor and Brinton's second straight award.
Last week, the Atlantic 10 champion Dukes were recognized as a CSCAA Scholar All-America team for their performance in the classroom during the spring semester.
Stauffer, recently named the Duquesne Female Student-Athlete of the Year, is the winner of nine career medals at the A-10 Championship including pacing the 200 breaststroke and 400 medley relay at the 2019 championship meet with school-record showings in each event. She also earned bronze medals in the 200 IM and 200 medley relay in 2019
Brinton, also an A-10 All-Academic Team selection, won a team-high five medals at the 2019 A-10 Championship. She took home gold in the 800-yard freestyle relay, 200-yard IM with a school and A-10 Championship record time, 400-yard IM with a school, A-10 Championship and SPIRE Institute pool record mark, 400-yard medley relay with a school-record finish as well as silver in the 200-yard backstroke with a school-record time in the event.
