HARMAR, Pa. - After playing six straight matches on the road, the Duquesne men's tennis team returned home and claimed a 4-3 non-conference win over Farleigh Dickinson on Friday night at Alpha Tennis and Fitness of Pittsburgh.
In the first-ever meeting between the Dukes (8-9) and Knights (6-9), DU's
Alex Mascioli and
Jared Isaacs picked up a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles for Duquesne.
At No. 2 doubles,
Chris Corrao and
Joey Matthews were not able to capitalize on opportunities and fell by a score of 6-3 while
Dane Bendel and
Alejandro Rodriguez-Vidal dropped a 6-4 decision at the No. 3 position, as the doubles point went to FDU.
In singles action, the Dukes rallied to quickly pick up a pair of victories with Rodriguez winning 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 and Isaacs 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4.
The Knights knotted it up at 2-2 with a win at No. 1 singles, before
Graham Conron collected a triumph at No. 6 singles in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 before
Alex Mascioli clinched the match coming from behind 3-6, 7-6, 6-3, to seal the victory for Duquesne.
