BRONX, N.Y. - Duquesne, down 18 with just under 14 minutes left, stormed back to snap a two-game losing streak with a 74-66 win over Fordham at Rose Hill Gym.
Duquesne, which has come back from double-digit deficits to win six times this season - including three times in conference play - outscored Fordham 50-26 in the second half.
The win gave the Dukes, who defeated the Rams in Pittsburgh on Jan. 9, a sweep of the home-and-home series.
Marcus Weathers led five Dukes in double figures with 16 points and a career high-tying 12 rebounds.
Sincere Carry scored 11 of his 14 in the second half for DU.
Michael Hughes posted an 11-12 double-double and Eric Williams added 12 points for Duquesne.
Tavian Dunn-Martin scored all of his 10 points in the second half, nine of which came on 3-pointers.
Duquesne fell behind 51-33 when Ivan Raut buried a 3-pointer with 14:27 left.
The Dukes, who shot 51.6 percent in the second half, kept chipping away.
Dunn-Martin hit a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 13.
Michael Hughes pulled the Dukes within single digits on a layup that made it 54-45.
Down 59-50, DU went on a 18-2 run that started with a Williams Jr. layup. A Dunn-Martin 3-pointer gave Duquesne its first lead since 8-6 at 60-59 with 4:06 left. Dunn-Martin added another 3-pointer and Carry followed with another three to make it 68-61 Duquesne with 2:05 left.
Fordham would get no closer than five the rest of the way.
The Dukes, who finished at 42.6 percent, held the Rams to 26.3 percent shooting in the second half and 35.3 percent for the game.
Fordham outscored Duquesne 22-3 off turnovers in jumping out to a 40-24 halftime lead.
Duquesne faces La Salle in Philadelphia on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 7:00 p.m. (ESPN+).
NOTES
- Duquesne trailed 51-33 with 13:56 left. it was DU's sixth double-digit comeback this season. The Dukes have now erased a 19-point deficit to defeat Rhode Island, a 15-point deficit to defeat Saint Joe's and 18-point deficit to defeat Fordham in A-10 play alone.
- The Dukes are now 8-5 when trailing at the half this season.
- Duquesne's 16-8 overall record and 7-4 Atlantic 10 mark are its best in both categories since 2010-11 (17-7, 9-2).
- This is just the third time that a Duquesne team has at least seven wins in its first 11 conference games. The others were in 1981 (8-3) and 2011 (9-2).
- The Dukes are now 3-2 in Atlantic 10 road games. The school record for A-10 road wins is four, accomplished three times (last in 2010-11).
- This was Duquesne's fourth-straight win at Rose Hill Gym.
- Marcus Weathers posted his fifth career double-double - and second at Duquesne - with 16 points and a career-high tying 12 rebounds. Weathers' three 3-pointers (3-5) were a new career high.
- Michael Hughes finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds for his third double-double of the season (and career).
- Duquesne went 7-of-16 from 3-point in the second half. Tavian Dunn-Martin led the way by going 3-of-6 from the arc in the second 20 minutes.
