PITTSBURGH - Duquesne second-year head coach
Corinne Desrosiers released the Dukes' 2020 schedule, highlighted by a number of stiff road tests along with seven games at Arthur J. Rooney Field.
Duquesne - coming off a nine-win season and its first A-10 Championship appearance since 2016 - will begin the 16-game slate on Feb. 7 on the road at Ohio State against a Buckeyes team coming off a nine-win season. The Dukes last faced off with Ohio State in 2017 and last traveled to Columbus in 2016.
Duquesne will then host Canisius in the home-opener at Rooney Field on Feb. 12. The Dukes own a 7-6 advantage in the all-time series against the Golden Griffins.
Duquesne then hits the road for three straight contests, beginning with a pair of intrastate matchups at Penn State (Feb. 19) and Saint Francis U (Feb. 26). The Dukes take on the Nittany Lions for the ninth-straight year and the fifth time in State College. Duquesne has won all 10 tilts against the Red Flash, including a 17-2 victory on The Bluff in 2019 and four games in Loretto.
The Dukes then make the trek to Newark, Del. to battle the Blue Hens of Delaware in the first meeting between the teams on March 4.
Duquesne will return home to welcome another first-time opponent to The Bluff in Akron on March 11.
The Dukes then head west to South Bend, Ind. to take on Notre Dame on March 18 to cap the non-conference portion of the schedule. The Fighting Irish is coming off its seventh NCAA Tournament appearance in eight seasons with a 14-5 ledger in 2019. Notre Dame defeated Stanford by a score of 15-9 in the first round before falling to Northwestern in the round of 16. Duquesne dropped a close 10-8 contest in the teams' last meeting in 2013 at Rooney Field.
The Dukes open Atlantic 10 action hosting St. Bonaventure on March 20 in the Steel City, having scored a total of 46 goals in the last two meetings against the Bonnies.
Duquesne then travels to UMass on March 22 before returning to Pittsburgh to take on VCU (March 27) and Richmond (March 29).
The Dukes head to Philadelphia for a pair of A-10 road matchups at Saint Joseph's (April 3) and La Salle (April 5) before hosting George Washington (April 9) and Davidson (April 11).
