PITTSBURGH - Duquesne lacrosse head coach Corinne Desrosiers recently announced that seniors Kirsten Barnes (Brielle, N.J. / Manasquan) and Rilee Bradshaw (Middletown, Md. / Middletown) will serve as team captains for the 2020 season. 

"We are looking forward to the spring with Kirsten and Rilee as captains," Desriosers said. "During our time together this fall they were consistent and dependable, ensuring the team was on track, accountable and always pushing to be better - even at 530 a.m. I trust them both to handle whatever hurdles are thrown our way this spring with grit and grace, with the hopes they can help shape the rising leadership this team will need in seasons to come. Being a captain is a lot more than a pretty title, and I believe they are willing to put in the hard work to help Duquesne continue our climb in the Atlantic 10."

Barnes appeared in all 17 games in 2018, tallying 14 points with 10 goals and four assists on the season. In addition, the midfielder finished with 17 ground balls, 15 draw controls and and nine caused turnovers. She netted her third career hat trick to help the Dukes earn a 16-8 road win at Butler. 

Bradshaw paced the Dukes with 58 points, including 54 goals on the season. Her 54 goals in 2019 are tied for fifth in a single season in program history. She netted the most goals for Duquesne since Amanda Kidder (57) in 2014.

Bradshaw had three-or-more goals in 11 of 17 games played, including a trio of six-goal performances against A-10 foes UMass, George Washington and La Salle. She added 41 draw controls, 22 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers on the year, as well. 

The Dukes open the 2020 campaign at Ohio State on Feb. 7 in Columbus.
