NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – After connecting on a team-high 23 kills (3.83 kills/set) this past weekend against George Washington and George Mason, Morgan Kelly has been selected as the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.

Kelly recorded 10 kills against George Washington on Friday and a season-high 13 against George Mason in Duquesne's first two matches at Mt. Lebanon High School.

Against the Patriots, Kelly's efficient .647 hitting percentage (13 kills, 2 errors, 17 attempts) is the highest percentage a Duke has registered this season (min. 12 kills), and the best attack percentage since Lacey Levers hit .786 against Fordham on Nov. 2, 2014. The .647 hitting percentage from Kelly is the best mark from a Duquesne freshman since Arielle Love posted a .667 hitting percentage against Fordham on Oct. 30, 2011.

Through four conference matches, Kelly leads the squad with 39 kills, while also posting 2.08 digs per set against A-10 competition.

Kelly and the rest of Dukes return to action on Friday, when Duquesne battles La Salle. Match time is set for 7:00 p.m. at Tom Gola Arena.
