PITTSBURGH - Duquesne volleyball head coach
Steve Opperman has announced that Sydney Moran will join the team for the 2019 season.
The defensive specialist/libero played locally at Thomas Jefferson High School and club with Pittsburgh Elite.
Â
Her senior season, Moran led TJ with a 20-3 record and appearances in the 2018 WPIAL championship game and quarterfinals of the PIAA championship. The Jaguars were ranked as high at #7 in the PIAA AAA Top 10.  She has led Thomas Jefferson to section crowns all three seasons she played varsity.
Â
A three-year starter and three-time All-Section performer, Moran earned state recognition with a spot on the PIAA AAA All-State Team. Â
Â
"What led me to Duquesne was the campus," Moran told the
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "I toured it my freshman year and really fell in love with the city feel, but also being in an isolated area. Plus, I was attracted to the coaching staff along with the competitive atmosphere the program has to offer."
The Dukes are coming off their ninth straight Atlantic 10 Conference championship berth.
Moran joins Morgan Kelly, Ashley Larson, Anita Parrott and Hailey Poling as the volleyball Class of 2022.
