PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne swimming and diving team competed at the two-day Western Pennsylvania Invitational on Friday and Saturday hosted by Pitt at Trees Pool.
Emiy Thirion (
Warren, Ohio / Warren) recorded two third-place finishes for the Dukes in the 50-yard freestyle (24.79) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:38.84) with
Kristen McKnight (
Gibsonia, Pa. / Hampton),
Carson Gross (
York, Pa. / York Suburban) and
Hanna Everhart (
Bloomsburg, Pa. / Bloomsburg Area).
Duquesne's 200-yard medley relay team of
Emma Brinton (
Landenberg, Pa. / Avon Grove),
Abigail Stauffer (
Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg), McKnight and Gross also placed third (1:48.50) in the event.
The Dukes added four fourth-place marks by
Lauren Devorace (
Rocky River, Ohio / Rocky River) in the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.96), Brinton in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.25), Gross in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.54) and
Sophia Perez (
Chapel Hill, N.C. / East Chapel Hill) in the 100-yard butterfly (59.52).
Perez also placed fifth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.43) while Everhart finished fifth in the 100-yard backstroke (59.58) and Brinton added a fifth-place showing in the 100-yard freestyle (54.43) for the Dukes.

The Duquesne swimming and diving team will look to repeat as Atlantic 10 champions at the conference championship meet on Feb. 20-23 at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The Dukes' divers will have one more meet prior to the A-10 Championship with the Westminster Tune-Up on Saturday, Feb. 9 in New Wilmington, Pa.
