Rotroff Sidelined with Knee Injury

Freshman forward injured in Wednesday's win over Saint Louis

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne freshman forward Austin Rotroff (Wauseon, Ohio) will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury suffered during Duquesne's 77-73 win over Saint Louis on Jan. 23.

Rotroff, one of five players to see action in all 19 games this season, tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on a non-contact play in the first half. He will undergo surgery to repair the ligament in the next few weeks. His rehabilitation timetable is to be determined.

"I really feel bad for Austin," said Duquesne head coach Keith Dambrot. "He's a great kid who works hard and is a very important part of our team. I'm sure he'll attack his rehab with the same effort and enthusiasm he shows on the court."

Rotroff, who was named Atlantic 10 co-Rookie of the Week on Nov. 12, was averaging 4.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 13.3 minutes per game. He was shooting .538 from the field and .769 from the foul line.

Duquesne (14-5, 5-1), winner of five in a row, hosts VCU on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 2:00 p.m. on AT&T SportsNet and ESPN+.
