NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Duquesne sophomore swimmer
Emma Brinton (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove) garnered Atlantic 10 Women's Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week honors for her performance against Ohio and Xavier, conference officials announced on Tuesday afternoon.
This marks Brinton's first A-10 Performer of the Week award after the sophomore was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week a program-record four times last season. This is Duquesne's second A-10 Performer of the Week nod this season, as
Abigail Stauffer (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) earned the award on Nov. 20. Freshman diver
Adrienne White (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton) also collected a pair of A-10 Rookie of the Week accolades earlier this season, as well.
Brinton led the Dukes with three first-place marks in the tri-meet vs. Ohio and Xavier in the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.04), 200-yard backstroke (1:54.04) and the 200-yard IM (2:06.46).
The 2018 A-10 Most Outstanding Rookie performer, Brinton owns top-three times in the A-10 this season in the 100 IM (58.77), 200 IM (2:01.28) and 400 IM (4:22.46).
Richmond's Maggie Purcell and George Washington's Isabela Patino shared A-10 Rookie of the Week accolades this week.
Brinton and the Dukes are back in action this weekend at the Western PA Invite hosted by Pitt at Trees Pool. The Duquesne divers will compete on Friday, Jan. 25Â beginning at 1 p.m. followed by swimming on Saturday, Jan. 26 at noon.
