Dukes Make it Eight Straight Over Spiders

Duquesne dominates Richmond 80-54

PITTSBURGH –  Duquesne won all four quarters and had three players score in double-digits in their 80-54 victory over Richmond on Saturday afternoon at the Palumbo Center.
 
Chassidy Omogrosso led all players with 16 points. Kadri-Ann Lass and Julijana Vojinovic added 14 and 10 respectively for the Dukes (10-8, 4-1 A-10).
 
Aniyah Carpenter scored 12 points for the Spiders (3-15, 0-5 A-10).
 
The Dukes led exactly 38 minutes and only fell behind once – on the game's first possession - and grabbed a season-best 51 rebounds, led by Lass with nine and Libby Bazelak with eight.
 
Duquesne went up by double-digits after Laia Sole hit a pair of free throws at 4:15 of the 1st quarter that made the score 17-7 and would take a 20-9 lead into the 2nd quarter.
 
Richmond started the 2nd quarter on a 9-2 run in the first three minutes to make it a two-possession game at 22-18. The Spiders would narrow the Dukes' lead down to four points again with 3:42 left in the quarter before an 11-3 run sparked by Bazelak's 3-pointer send the game into halftime with Duquesne ahead 35-23.
 
The Dukes dominated the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Spiders 27-17, taking a commanding 62-42 lead into the final quarter.
 
The second of Angela Staffileno's 3-pointers would give Duquesne its largest lead of the game at 29 points, 80-51.
