A-10 Conference Schedule Announced

Dukes to open league play on national TV at Davidson

PITTSBURGH – Duquesne will open the Atlantic 10 season on national television at Davidson on January 5 as part of the conference schedule released today. The Dukes and Wildcats, who will tip at 6:00 p.m. on NBCSN, are one of six nationally televised A-10 games that day.

DU, in its second season under head coach Keith Dambrot, will appear on TV four times in league play, including three times on NBCSN (Jan. 5 at Davidson, Jan. 20 at George Washington & Feb. 6 vs. George Washington) and once on Stadium (Feb. 6 vs. St. Bonaventure). In addition, the A-10 announced that the Dec. 19 nonconference game vs. Penn State at PPG Paints Arena will be televised by CBSSN.

The 14 Atlantic 10 schools will face each other once and five schools twice in the fifth-straight year of an 18-game regular-season league schedule. DU's five home-and-home opponents - which are unchanged from last year - include 2018 NCAA tournament participant St. Bonaventure, Dayton, George Washington, Fordham and Saint Louis.

The Dukes, who will have 12 first-year players on the 2018-19 roster, will play 11 of their 13 nonconference games at home prior to the start of the A-10 schedule.    

Duquesne's home A-10 opener will be against Fordham on Jan. 9, followed by another home game vs. Saint Joseph's on Jan. 12. Additional home games include a late-January stretch of three in a row vs. Saint Louis (Jan. 23), VCU (Jan. 26) and Rhode Island (Jan. 30). St. Bonaventure (Feb. 6), George Washington (Feb. 16), UMass (Mar. 2) and Dayton (Mar. 9) will also be visiting Palumbo Center.

In addition to the Davidson game, the Dukes will face Richmond (Jan. 16), George Washington (Jan. 20), Dayton (Feb. 2), Fordham (Feb. 9), La Salle (Feb. 13), George Mason (Feb. 23), St. Bonaventure (Feb. 27) and Saint Louis (Mar. 6) on the road.

This marks the sixth year of the long-term television agreement between the A-10 and ESPN, CBS Sports Network and NBCSN, and the second year of the Stadium agreement. Atlantic 10 institutions reside in states that comprise 33.3 million television households, approximately 30 percent of the total national media market. There are nine A-10 institutions in or adjacent to the top 25 media markets in the country.

The 2019 Atlantic 10 Championship returns to Brooklyn's Barclays Center on March 13-17. There will be a pair of first round games Wednesday, March 13 followed by second round games on Thursday, March 14. The winners of those four games will advance to the quarterfinal round on Friday, March 15. First round games will be carried by ESPN , and the second round and quarterfinal games will be televised by NBCSN. Semifinal games will air on CBSSN on Saturday, March 16 and the championship game will be carried by CBS on NCAA Selection Sunday, March 17.

The top four regular-season finishers will receive first round byes.

The Dukes open the 2018-19 season at home against William & Mary on Nov. 10.

2018-19 SCHEDULE QUICK NOTES
  • The Dukes are scheduled to appear on television a minimum of five times - including four times in Atlantic 10 Conference play. DU will appear on NBCSN three times and CBSSN and Stadium once each. Additional regional and local television coverage will be announced at a later date. All non-televised home games as well and non-televised A-10 road games will be streamed live on ESPN .
     
  • Five of Duquesne's first eight conference games will be at home.
     
  • The Dukes will have just two home games in February.
     
  • The 14-team Atlantic 10 will maintain an 18-game schedule. Each conference member will face five teams in a home-and-home series. Duquesne's home-and-home opponents in 2018-19 are: Dayton, Fordham, George Washington, St. Bonaventure and Saint Louis. All 14 teams will qualify for the Atlantic 10 Championship at Brooklyn's Barclays Center March 13-17 with the top four regular season finishers receiving byes to the quarterfinal round. This is the fifth time the A-10 Champion will be crowned in Brooklyn.
     
  • This is Duquesne's 42nd year as a member of the Atlantic 10.
