PITTSBURGH - Senior
Elizabeth Morris (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) paced all runners on the 5K course at the 2018 Duquesne Duals at Schenley Park on Saturday morning to lead the Duquesne women's cross country team to a first-place mark at the event.
Morris finished in 18:27.28 as the first of five Duke runners in the top seven at the race.
Junior
Megan Aller (New Kensington, Pa./Kiski Area) placed third at 18:38.10 followed by
Ava Pietrzyk (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) fifth (18:45.60),
Jennifer Gerland (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City)Â sixth (18:52.51) and
Morgan Perkins (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) seventh (19:11.08).
All told, the Dukes finished with a score of 22, defeating second-place finisher Pittsburgh by 41 points, as the Panthers finished with a score of 63. Carnegie Mellon finished third at 74, Cleveland State fourth at 83, Youngstown State fifth at 126 and Robert Morris sixth at 181.
Duquesne is back in action on Friday, Sept. 14 at the Buffalo Invitational.
