THE SERIES VS. NORTHERN KENTUCKY
- The is the first meeting between the Dukes and the Norse.
- Northern Kentucky, which won a Division II national championship in 2010, was granted official Division I status in August of this year after completing the four-year D-I transition.
THE SERIES VS. DETROIT MERCY
- This is the third meeting between the Dukes and Titans, with Detroit Mercy holding a 1-0-1 series lead.
- The two played to a 1-1 (2OT) draw at the Diadora Classic in Bowling Green, Ohio on Sept. 1, 2002.
- Detroit Mercy took the second meeting by a 3-2 score on Rooney Field on Sept. 18, 2010.

- Duquesne is in its sixth season under head coach Chase Brooks. Brooks has led the Dukes to three Atlantic 10 Conference tournament appearances (2013, 2015 & 2016).

- Of the 15 newcomers, eight are international players: F Manel Busquets (Spain), M/F Denis Celik (Germany), D/M Nathan Dossantos (Canada), D/M Rob Dymond (New Zealand), D Moritz Kappelsberger (Germany), GK Dominic Nascimben (Australia), M/F Gylfi Stefansson (Iceland) and F Eric Zech (Germany).
- Busquets, Dossantos, Dymond, Kappelsberger, Stefansson and Zech all started the opener at Marshall. Celik saw time off the bench.
- Dymond's best friend and former high school teammate, Alex Greive, is a sophomore M/F for NKU. The Norse, who are coached by Wellington, New Zealand native Stu Riddle, have three New Zealanders on the 2018 roster.
- Overall, DU has 10 international players, including returners seniors Noah Mehta (Canada) and Olav Hovstad (Norway).
