The Duquesne men's tennis team finished the regular season 12-7 and 4-3 in the Atlantic 10 Conference after defeating La Salle 6-1 and a 4-3 setback from George Washington this weekend.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Against La Salle, the Dukes went ahead 1-0 by winning the doubles point. Adam Blasinsky and Drew Akins took #2 7-5. Tim Kane and Jared Isaacs pitched a shutout at #3, 6-0.
The Dukes took five out of the six singles matches. Chris Corrao, Isaacs and Andrew Ong were straight sets winners at #2, #4 and #6 singles. Akins split the first two sets before winning the third, 6-4. Dominic Lea battled back after losing the first set, winning 6-4 and 6-1.
George Washington started the match off by winning the doubles point. The Colonials went ahead 3-0 by winning #3 and #6 singles. Isaacs (6-4, 6-2) got the Dukes on the board at #5, but the Colonials got the clincher at #2. Akins and Adam Blasinsky won their matches at #4 and #1.
STAT OF THE WEEKEND
Isaacs and Akins both had a perfect weekend.
