ORLANDO, Fla. - The #6 seed Duquesne men's tennis team advanced to the quarterfinal round of the 2018 Atlantic 10 Tennis Championship after a 4-0 victory over #13 seed St. Bonaventure Thursday afternoon.
The Dukes and Bonnies played a very close doubles point. Jared Isaacs and Tim Kane were the first to finish, winning 6-4 at #3. Chris Corrao and Andrew Ong along with Adam Blasinsky and Drew Akins were both tied at 6-6 at #1 and #2 respectively. The twos were the first to finish, winning 7-6 and putting Duquesne ahead 1-0.
Isaacs made fast work of his opponent at #5, with a straight set win 6-1, 6-2. After splitting the first two sets, Ong won the third set 6-4 at #6 to give the Dukes a commanding 3-0 lead. Blasinsky bounced back after dropping the first set to win his match and give the Dukes the 4-0 victory.
Corrao, Tim Kane and Akins' matches were unfinished.
With the victory, the Dukes improve to 13-7 on the season, the most since 2014. They will play #3 seed Dayton on Friday at noon.
