ORLANDO - The Duquesne women's tennis team ventured south for their annual Spring Break trip. The Dukes won matches over Mount St. Mary's and Kenyon and fell to A-10 rival Davidson.
Duquesne 7, Mount St. Mary's 0
The Dukes easily handled the Mountaineers. In doubles, the Dukes only dropped four total games. Kylie Isaacs and Julianne Herman were 6-1 winners at #1. Ally Miller and Maddy Adams breezed to a 6-0 win at #2. Laurel Shymansky and Aishwarya Kona won at #3, 6-3.
In singles, everybody on in straight sets. Isaacs 2 and 1 at #1, Herman 0 and 0 at #2, Shymansky 3 and 1 at #3, Miller 1 and 1 at #4, Adams 0 and 1 at #5 and Kona 4 and 2 at #6.
Davidson 6, Duquesne 1
The middle match of the trip was a difficult one. Only Herman came away with a win, a 6-3, 6-3 singles victory at #2.
Duquesne 7, Kenyon 0
Next up was a last- minute schedule against Division III Kenyon. Duquesne won the doubles point, with Isaacs and Herman winning at #1 6-1 and Kona and Shymansky at #3 6-1.
The singles were all settled by supersets. The Dukes won all six. Isaacs 9-8 in a breaker #1, Herman 8-0 at #2, Shymansky 8-4 at #3, Miller 8-2 at #4, Adams 8-3 at #5 and Kona 8-2 at #6.
