TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo used the momentum after going on a 13-1 to break a tied game wide open and come away with a 65-52 victory on Sunday afternoon at Savage Arena.
Kadri-Ann Lass was the only Dukes player to score in double-figure with 10 points.
Amanda Kalin set a new career-high with eight rebounds.
Chassidy Omogrosso had a team-high four assists.
Three Rockets scored in double-digits – led by 19 from Mariella Santucci.
Duquesne (1-3) never led and shot 32.8 percent from the field – and was 2-of-12 from the 3-point line. The Dukes were a -10 in the rebound column.
Toledo scored the final seven points of the 1
st quarter to take a 19-8 lead after the first 10 minutes.
UT's Nakiah Black's 3-pointer at 8:06 of the 2
nd quarter gave the Rockets their first double-figure lead of the game at 24-14. Duquesne went on a 13-6 run, making it a one-possession game at halftime 30-27.
The Dukes tied the contest after Sole's layup made the score 38-38 with 3:44 left in the 3
rd quarter. Toledo countered with a pair of layups which started a 12-3 run, ending the quarter with a 50-41 lead.
The Rockets would lead by as many as 15 points with two minutes remaining in the game.
