CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Duquesne swimming and diving team returns to action this weekend at the seventh annual Magnus Cup hosted by Cleveland State on Friday, Nov. 16 through Sunday, Nov. 18 at Busbey Natatorium.
The Dukes are one of a meet-record 16 women's teams competing at the meet along with Akron, Buffalo, California (Pa.), Cleveland State, University of the Cumberlands, Delaware, Fairmont State, Indiana (Pa.), Indiana State, Saint Francis (Pa.), Simon Fraser, Soka University, West Virginia Tech, Xavier and Youngstown State.
Duquesne hits the pool for the first time since posting a 3-1 mark at the Atlantic 10 Classic on Oct. 27-28 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. At last season's Magnus Cup, the Dukes placed second behind three top-three finishes by then-freshman
Emma Brinton (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove), placing second in both the 100-yard IM (58:29) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:02.76) to go with a third-place mark in the 200 IM (2:02.21). For her performance, she earned her fourth Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week nod of the season.
At this weekend's Magnus Cup, the prelims get started at 9 a.m. each day with finals starting at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, as well as 3 p.m. on Sunday.
